Jay's concert

Haven't been to many concerts, but this was really the best.
Little wonder why the tickets were snapped up so fast
There wasn't a need for a crowd warmer to try to get the crowd aroused and warm (unlike JJ..)
The moment the music started and the star appeared, the payers of the most expensive seats were on their feet.
The concert went on and when it ended with Huoyuanjia and shuangjiegun, 99% of the indoor stadium's seats were redundant and everyone were shouting in unison to the song.
I guess no one's music can get the crowd hyped up so automatically except his.
He's the king of mandarin pop for now i guess
Pity though he didn't sing much of his older songs that were true classics.
Will be waiting for his next concert.. Hopefully i wouldn't feel too old in the crowd by then.
Must thank dear for pulling a colleague with an OCBC card to get the tics. Maybe have to get one such card before next year haha...

The soccer pitch

A career in medicine seems like a career on the soccer pitch.
The high flyers (the specialist) fit the role of the strikers best. They get referrals (balls) from the other players and score the glamourous goals when they succeed. The crowd (patients) cheer and thank them for making their days brighter. Something that most other players in the field are unable to achieve

GPs can play both defence or midfield. With things they can handle, they would score the goals themselves. Else they will pass on to the specialists upfront for the finishing touch or if they think the ball or patient is too dangerous for them to hold on to.. They will do the ultimate necssesity: leave it to the goalkeeper

The goalkeeper plays the most important role in the medical field
They are the gatekeepers for patients. They get all the s*** ahem, balls from the defenders that do not feel confident enough to handle or at times, the balls just come flying at them at dangerous speeds.
The job of the goalkeeper is to keep the ball alive: (keep it out of goal). Who else is better at doing it than emergency doctors.
If the goalkeeper fails too many times, patients will drop like flies... the whole medical team will fail...

I'm most comfortable playing defender on the field... is that my career path too?

New year 2008

Can't remember when was the last countdown i went to..
But this year was exceptionally good

Work ended at 11pm, quite on time fortunately.
Met Dear at about 1110pm and made our way to the merlion park
the train ride and the squeezing along the river bay brought us to 15mins before midnight
Quite a feat considering that it takes just 5mins to walk to the merlion park from the raffles place MRT station on a normal day
There were throngs of people gathering all the way from boat quay to the esplanade, almost no space to walk..

Fortunately, the fireworks were great.
watching together with dear was real special too.. Our first countdown alone together.. Haha
Hope the year ahead will be great for everyone.
